Profit Dynamics consultants seek effective solutions for our clients. We regularly investigate new products which might improve operations and profitability. We remain open to new products and conduct product comparison/analysis for our clients.

However, we have found a number of products that have served many of our clients well. So we present these as tools which most small to mid sized business, and many work groups within larger enterprises might well consider.

By using technology to do the repetitive tasks, we can free up staff for more creative and profitable efforts and increased productivity. Finding better ways to share information enables superior customer service. Improvements in customer service lead to increases in customer satisfaction and profitability.

GoldMine and Customer Relationship Management

The GoldMine/FrontRange family of products has provided many such tools. For many of our clients, these Customer Relationship Management (CRM) products have been excellent database and communications solutions.

When a company has been trained to make effective use of CRM tools, it will progress quickly through the stages of use: "Rolodex", Calendar, History/Call Log, Automation. Along the way they will find powerful relationship tools to connect contacts in different ways: Additional Contacts, Referrals Tab, Organization Chart, Opportunity and Project Management.

Communications and data sharing are at the core of a good CRM program and GoldMine provides many communications and reporting options. GoldMine was designed for use in a networked environment, and by moving to Microsoft SQL, it has been able scale up both database size and number of users.

CRM Solutions for Remote Users

GoldSync has long enabled remote users to work with GoldMine in a disconnected and synchronized environment.

Citrix, Microsoft Terminal Services or iGoldMine can be used to implement thin client technology for remote network connection.

The real product news comes in the growing ability to put GoldMine on PDAs and cell phones. Although GoldMine itself provides some conduits for syncing PDAs, we recommend that you consider the other options:

CompanionLink has improved PDA synchronization for GoldMine with both USB and wireless connections on any wireless enabled PDA.

W-Systems has developed the very secure (no data on the PDA), web browser based, wMobile which puts GoldMine on any wireless enabled PDA.

Most recently, GoldMine released the GoldMine Mobile Edition for use with the BlackBerry. Data is synchronized and resides on the BlackBerry, making it accessible in situations, like plane travel, where the wireless connection is not available. Security is ensured through the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. In the event of a PDA loss or employee separation, the GoldMine data can be wiped off the BlackBerry remotely.
